Management & Tech Summer Institute (M&TSI)
M&TSI is a 3 week course hosted by the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). It is taught by full time faculty from Wharton and Penn Engineering. It introduces students to the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for successfully linking technology & management concepts.
M&TSI was one of the most intense but fun summers of my life. From working 14 hours a day, to not being able to sleep for the last 2 days, it really gave a glimpse of what college life could be. I was able to make some incredible friends there, some of which I am still in touch with.
My team ‘ProjeX’ built a 3D hologram, a project which first seemed incredibly ambitious, but eventually came out to be amazing. ProjeX can be used to display objects in 3D in museums, classrooms and other showcases. It eliminates the friction of traditional hologram creation (removing the complicated software to render multiple views) and allows users to simply upload a 2D or 3D sketch and generates a rotating, hologram-ready video using our web app. The device itself is an LCD-based unit that uses the science behind “Pepper’s Ghost” and projects volumetric-style visuals.
I secured the grade A- (93.03%)
Policy Intern - National Small Industries Corporation
At NSIC, I worked within the Technology, E-Commerce, and Marketing (TEAM) Initiative, a government program designed to help micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) join the digital economy. Many traditional artisans and craftsmen in India come from rural or semi-urban regions and struggle to sell their products online due to limited digital literacy, inadequate access to technology, and complex registration processes. My work focused on identifying these barriers and creating actionable solutions.
First, I conducted a policy analysis of the TEAM Initiative and the Vishwakarma Scheme, which both aim at empowering traditional artisans and small manufacturers by providing financial assistance, digital training, and access to online marketplaces. Through reviewing internal documents, government data, and survey responses from small business owners, I found key implementation challenges:
bureaucratic hurdles in scheme enrollment
lack of digital payment infrastructure
market linkages.
I then collaborated with my team to draft reform proposals that simplified the onboarding process for artisans. Additionally, I helped organize workshops under the TEAM Initiative that introduced artisans to online selling platforms and explained how government schemes could subsidize their entry .
My final presentation to NSIC’s senior management summarized these findings and proposed a plan on how to integrate the Vishwakarma Scheme with TEAM’s digital adoption model. This ensured artisans not only receive financial assistance but also learn the technological capacity to sustain online growth.
The internship gave me firsthand insight into how policy, data, and technology intersect to empower local economies, and how small structural changes in design and accessibility can create large-scale social impact.
